minutesA versatile home-style prawn curry enjoyed across many regions of India, featuring tomatoes, onions, and warming spices.
Ingredients
Tiger prawns, 500 g
Onion, finely chopped, 250 g
Tomato, finely chopped, 250 g
Ginger paste, 1 tsp
Garlic paste, 1 tsp
Turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp
Salt, 1/2 tsp (or to taste)
Red chili powder, 1 tsp
Coriander seed paste, 1 tsp
Cumin paste, 1 tsp
Cumin seeds, 1 tsp
Kashmiri red chili powder, 1 tsp
Cooking oil, 3–4 tsp
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, 2 tsp
Directions
- Clean and wash the prawns thoroughly.
- Chop onions and tomatoes finely.
- In a bowl, mix ginger paste, garlic paste, coriander paste, cumin paste, and powdered spices.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add onions and tomatoes and sauté until softened.
- Add the spice mixture with a little water and cook until oil separates.
- Add prawns, stir well, and pour in 1 cup of water. Simmer until the gravy thickens.
- Turn off the heat and mix in chopped coriander leaves.
